The Library will make photocopies of Library materials within the following guidelines:

1. Works currently available for purchase

1.1. Up to 10% or 50 pages of the item will be copied, whichever is less.

2. Works which are out-of-print

2.1. Entire works will generally only be photocopied for Bahá'í World Centre Departments which have a pressing need for a copy of the work in question; or for projects undertaken by individuals on behalf of the Universal House of Justice.

2.2. Up to 10% or 50 pages of any single volume, whichever is less, will be copied by the Library for researchers.

3. Typescripts, photocopies of typescripts, unpublished papers, theses

3.1. These categories may be photocopied at the Librarian's discretion. Where there is a question of the Library's right to photocopy, permission will be obtained.

3.2. Theses/dissertations will not usually be photocopied, except as noted in sections 1. and 2. The person requesting will be asked to obtain the thesis from the degree-granting institution or from a thesis distributor such as University Microfilms International.

4. Periodicals

5. Copyright

5.1. If there is any question of violation of copyright, the Library will normally refuse to make a photocopy.

6. Responsibility for photocopying

6.1. All materials other than periodicals (e.g., books, pamphlets, etc.) will be photocopied only by the Library staff.

6.2. Periodicals may be photocopied by the person requesting the copies, at the discretion of the librarian.
