The present Bahá'í World Centre Library is, to all intents and purposes, the International Bahá'í Library institution, but as yet an embryonic version without the full definition, mandate and administration which the Universal House of Justice will give it at the appropriate time. It is a special library, inasmuch as its primary collection area is the Bahá'í Faith. The International Bahá'í Library is also serving functions akin to those of national depository libraries, with its requirements for deposit of publications of Bahá'í Publishing Trusts, Bahá'í National Spiritual Assemblies, and other international and national Bahá'í bodies. This library is also a corporate library filling the varied needs of many departments for information on all general and professional topics. It will develop into a scholarly institution collecting on the universe of topics, and maintaining contact with many institutions in the furtherance of human knowledge.
